Sexyy Red flipped Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” into a raunchy “Just Eat It” version, which has drawn polarizing opinions from fans on social media.
Lil Yachty posted the clip of Sexyy rapping along to her explicit edition of MJ’s classic while in the studio on Tuesday (Feb. 10) on his backup Instagram page.
Yachty joked that the St. Louis rapper’s spicy rework was going to be part of the Michael biopic soundtrack arriving in April.
“Sneak peak scene of the new michael biopic,” he captioned the viral clip.
Sexyy danced around the studio as her “Just Eat It” remix blared through the speakers. “Just eat it, just eat it/ You better not nut fast because I hate a minute man/ And if that d—k is trash, I’m telling all my friends/ I’ll beat your a— and we bout to throw them hands,” she raps.
Sexyy Red doubled down on her MJ fandom when she posted another clip performing her “Just Eat It” version in the studio. “Leaked footage from da Michael Jackson movie HOOCHIE TRIBUTE TO DA BEST LLMJ,” she wrote.
“Just Eat It” went viral on social media, and drew strong convictions from some, who were disgusted at her take on the MJ anthem, while others had a laugh and didn’t take it too seriously.
Singer and Joe Budden Podcast affiliate Emanny was angered by Sexyy’s explicit bars and he posted a photo to X of him on a supposed call with Michael Jackson’s estate lawyer to make sure it never receives an official release.
“Not playing with y’all. We got a movie to prep for dropping April 24th,” he wrote. “It’s Cease and desist SZN for anyone playing with MJ music!”
Rap pioneer Monie Love vehemently disagreed with Sexyy’s sample choice. “Whoever cleared the ‘Beat It’ sample for Sexyy Red, I hope they know they not seeing heaven,” she wrote on X. “Playing with MJ name and discography like that is beyond disrespectful!”
Another fan chimed in under Yachty’s comments section: “Pls never let this clear the sample!”
However, Big Sexyy has long been a fan of the King of Pop. During a hometown show in November, Sexyy brought out MJ impersonator Rico Hampton to perform “Billie Jean” for the audience.
As far as her other music goes, Sexyy Red teamed up with Key Glock for the Tay Keith-produced “Hang Wit a Bad B—h,” which arrived on Feb. 8.
